:) My Strive To Continue On:)
So far we are coming close to the end of this semester. I feel like at the beginning of the semester, I set myself with standards that I felt I could achieve. I felt that I was doing well for a while and I continued to stay on track and keep my grades up. I ended up getting sick, and was hospitalized for a week, missing an entire week of school. I wasn’t able to do any homework or class work and had talked to my teachers and they all were going to let me make up any missing work for that week. Once I got back to school it was horrible, missing one week of college felt as if I missed an entire month and I felt that there was no way I could catch up on my work. I tried my best to but ever since then I began to slack off, becoming further and further back in work. Currently I am trying my hardest to get back on track and raise all of my grades because I do not want to have to retake any classes, nor do I want to have any bad grades because Universities will not look at bad grades. I am hoping that with the eight weeks or so of school left, that there will be enough time to stay on track and improve my grades to where I’d like them. I continue to keep a positive attitude, always have, and always will, because that seems to always help me keep pushing and going on no matter the situation!! J My motto is: Don’t forget to SMILE!! J

:) To My Best Friend In The Whole Wide World :)
Long -Term Goal: Get Bachelor’s Degree
Mid-Term Goal: Get AA
Short- Term Goal: Pass all of my classes, study, do all homework
Dear Grisell,
Hello bestest friend in the whole wide world. Wow, I can’t believe a year has passed already, so much has happened this past year you’ll never believe it. Well, I finished schools at Fullerton JC. I received my AA and I am now attending Cal State Long Beach working on getting my Bachelor’s Degree. I passed all of my classes with A’s, B’s, and just a few C’s. I used some of the studying techniques that I learned from my reading 96 class and they helped me so much, and even improved my test scores. I completed all of my homework assignments not leaving one out because if I didn’t do one assignment that one assignment could of affected my grade and I couldn’t afford for my grades to drop. I miss you so much, now that we are both trying to become closer to our careers we haven’t hung out as much, but we definitely need to get to together soon and hang out!
Love,
Your Bestest Friend

:) My Hero! :)
There have been many instances in life which have made an impact on me personally. One important story in my life that made a huge impact would have to be the time that my mother went into the hospital. The day the ambulance and fire fighters rushed my mother out of our house made me realize that you can’t take life for granted. My mother has always been very healthy and seeing her in the condition she was in, made me think to myself that that could happen to anyone. You don’t have to be in bad shape for something bad to happen to you, you can be “perfectly” fine, and one day you can take a turn in life. I wake up every morning, grateful that I am able to see another day of life. I’m grateful that my mother and father are healthy right now and that I get to share each and every day with them. My mother was on her death bed and the doctors didn’t believe she would survive, but she did, and that is one of the reasons why I consider my mother to be my hero!! She is an amazing woman, and without my mother, I have no idea what I would do. I respect my mother so much, I look up to her, and I hope I can at least be half the mother she has been! My mother is one of my best friends and I love her to death, I wouldn’t want to consider anyone else my hero but her. She has lived up to the definition of a hero!

:/ The Weight I Carry! :/
I carry the weight of sadness each and every day. I became pregnant during this fall semester of school, and found out around Christmas time. I looked forward to becoming a mother and my family was extremely excited as well. Some of my friends knew but most of the news was told to my family. My parents were going to have their first grandchild, my brothers and sisters were going to have their first niece or nephew, and my child would have been the first great and great-great grandchild for my grandparents. This past Christmas, December 25, 2011, my grandmother ( my mom’s mom) passed away, and so finding out that I was pregnant brought some excitement to the family because we all had just lost a family member. I began this spring semester pregnant and it was a little hard to get up every morning and come to school but I did it! On January 27, 2012 I was scheduled for my first ultrasound and enjoyed seeing my baby on the little monitor. The baby was fine and everything was okay at the ultrasound appointment. After the ultrasound, I started to not feel well and slept the rest of the day. At 10:45 p.m., that night I miscarried my baby. I was in the Emergency Room the next day, all day long. This tragic incident has left pain and sadness on me. I have gotten through most of my day, but some days are the hardest, especially when it hurts me that I lost my baby. I share this story because being opened about it helps me cope with this loss that I have suffered. But, through all of this I will continue to try my hardest to keep this SMILE on my face. :)
